THE BACKDROP N. 24th 2017
It’s ironic, today I checked my dms and had a message from a person who had just read The Alarm Clock they told me that it inspired them to follow their vision. I love the fact that your novelty can influence people who you don’t even know, that’s the beauty in writing, you can write to a population because we all breathe the same air therefore everyone can relate to your words, that was the purpose for The Alarm Clock. The irony of this is that tomorrow marks 3 years that I first made the announcement to the world that I was about to release my book.
Me being the creator that I am, decided to partner up with my family, Kwatre, who in the midst was preparing to release his second novel, called Notes 2 Self. We wanted to create an an epic experience for our close friends and family, at our release. We called this event “The Back Drop” and it was held at Taste of Triad in the city, [The Old Bell Brothers], this was right up the street from the street I grew up on, Cox Blvd. The event was amazing we had, DJ Trellz, on the 1s and 2s, and anybody who has been to Trellz events already know how they go, Trellz is now the official Dj for NC State’s sporting events, that goes to show where you where influence can take you. We also had some of the best artist in Carolinas come out such as, Kayyart, and Son Of SImba, who did live paintings throughout the whole function. The vision was to create a human art museums, our craft serving as the “live art”. We turned that restaurant into The Boston Museum that night, it was incredible. We even had the Chronicle come out and they actually interviewed us live, infront of the crowd and for the feature in paper the following week.
This was a great way to launch the life of The Alarm Clock and it really spoke to the message in the book. These last three years has been a struggle because I have building ground up’, without depending on the system, this publishing empire, No More Suits, however I would not trade none of it for the world beacuse the journey was been so pure— Its’ crazy how this all started from a notebook that my ex left in my apartment my junior year in college, that’s when I began to write the book. Now we are scheduling book releases for 2021 for our next wave of authors. I am so grateful to the creator for giving me this vision and a desire to never give up. This is only the beginning.
As a token of appreciation I wanted to share this ep with you. In this ep you hear the growth in my voice over the last three years. In the track, The Prophet Isaiah, I examine who this prophet was in the bible, because I mention of him often in the book and I parallel his message to morden times. I also tribute Dr. Ivan Van Sertima who was born on my birthday, I am so grateful for his lifetime dedication to correcting the false history as it relates greatness of the Native Americans, who were here before Columbus. Having strong indigenous ties to North America, his works is much respected and appreciated. You will also discover my spoken words throughout this ep, all raw and uncut.
Enjoy Cheers to more accomplishments
