Mind, Body, Soul: Take on the 2nd annual Alkaline Festival

Having the opportunity to experience pure heavy energy was beyond measure. Powered by Heavy Energy University and Live Alkaline NC, the 2nd annual Alkaline Festival took place in Yadkinville, North Carolina on July 2nd, 2022. Being on land that felt like home as well as it being Black Indigenously owned, the vibes were grounding.

While walking around, I came across almost every vendor you could think of. I received the opportunity to get some of the most refreshing watermelon juice from Morgan, creator of MoReMy Creations, as well as some freshly squeezed lemonade from Kayden’s Cool Lemonade. Along with these sources of thirst quenchers, Live Alkaline Water was on the scene with the best hydration in the nation up for purchase as well (if you were smart you would have purchased the wristband for refills all day because it was HOT). The Alkaline Water comes directly from the land, an aquifer with springs sitting above a mineral rock bed. The beauty of the water derives from it being all natural and 100% free of chemicals. These were some of the many vendors on site at the Alkaline Festival.

I also purchased some beautiful jewelry pieces from the creator of Goddess Flower Beads and handmade healing jewelry from Kia, owner of Mindful Jewels. Mind you, all of this was on the walk-in, there was no way to resist engagement with these black creators, unapologetically.

T. Walker, president of SOUL Society NC opened the scene for yoga with Queen Blue Panda to kick off the festival. Personally, I loved this because it allowed a sense of mindfulness. I thought to myself, “What is a better way to start off the day other than with yoga?” I cannot state enough how serene of a scene there was, it was one of those {you had to be there} type of vibes.

Sounds were brought live from DJ VBRTNS and DJ Damu. Being at the Alkaline Festival allowed me to tap into myself and nature. I wanted to take the time to appreciate the land of abundance. My goal was overflowingly fulfilled. Around 5’o clock pm the Heavy Energy Concert cranked up featuring artists Kiiba, Free Derrick Hardy, Troya, and Flower in Bloom to name just a few. The art that was expressed on stage was phenomenal. It is powerful to witness our own community being born. The importance of our black brothers and sisters coming together to provide for ourselves, by ourselves, was visually highlighted at the festival. Building our tribe is a necessity. An art wall was an enhancing feature of the festival, allowing our tribe to leave their mark as well as a bonfire conclusion.

The elements incorporated into this event are our future. The time to rebuild our kingdom of Kings and Queens is evidently now. Witnessing the children run on the land barefoot and interacting with the animals, the dancing, artistry, socializing, and networking awakened a promising succeeding. If you missed out on the 2nd annual Alkaline festival, I highly recommend making sure you attend the next one!
